Tasmania is set to lead the nation in recycling of expanded polystyrene (EPS), with the commencement of construction of a $10 million state-of-the-art manufacturing facility designed to close the loop for EPS as well as support the aquaculture, agriculture and construction sectors.
The 4,000 square meter production facility is set to open in Westbury in 2023 and will provide Tasmania with a northern recycling base for EPS, giving the state the opportunity to be a leader in the closed-loop circular economy.
Our Here to Stay campaign and recycling initiatives all aim to divert EPS from landfill and into essential, sustainable products. Garnering attention from local Tasmanian media including The Examiner, ABC Radio Hobart (2:55), Channel 7 (11:10), and Win TV and we look forward to seeing the development of the Westbury manufacturing facility come to life.
